The HR Staff is comprised of four Consulting Teams that provide overall HR support for assigned University constituents, as well as an HR Services Team with expertise in the areas of Administration, Benefits, Records and Systems.
The Human Resources Department provides guidance in the areas of compensation, employment, benefits, training & development, employee relations and records for the UNT campus community.
Compensation is the review, research and development of pay and related programs that assist the organization with being competitive in the market and attracting and retaining highly qualified talent. This is accomplished through consulting with consituents in areas such as wage and salary research and recommendations, assistance with creating or modifying job descriptions and hiring specifications, assistance with requests for new positions and reclassifications of existing positions, consultation relating to unit startups, reorganizations, and reductions in force, and oversight and education relating to legal compliance issues.
Employment encompasses the recruitment, selection and placement of employees within the organization. We consult with departments to determine a sourcing strategy that will result in hiring the best candidates to join the UNT team. Through the development of effective postings, pinpointing high return advertising resources, and assisting with candidate assessment plans and on interview panels, we partner with hiring managers to hire smart.
Benefits are part of an employee's total compensation package and include various insurance coverages, retirement programs, as well as perks and programs that help establish a positive work/life balance. Through consultation and training, we assist employees with understanding the benefit programs offered.
Training and development focuses on assisting UNT employees in gaining the knowledge and skills needed to be successful in a fast-paced, customer driven, student focused, University environment by providing a variety of training and educational activities, classes, and seminars for University faculty and staff. We work with department leaders to predict and develop strategies/approaches to improve institutional effectiveness and build a workforce capable of accomplishing UNT’s strategic goals.

Utilizing consultation and resource development, we assist individuals and departments with fostering positive working relationships through effective communication, conflict resolution, career counseling & development, building trust, and managing expectations.
Records relates to leave policies and programs, employment eligibility verifications, job and personal data changes, employment verifications, time and labor and personnel and employment documents.
